ELIZABETH WONG hopes to get a MacBook to replace her old iBook laptop, but she probably received the best birthday gift ever when she won the Bukit Lanjan state seat in Saturday’s general election.
Wong, who turned 38 yesterday, defeated one-term assemblyman Datin Paduka Yong Dai Ying with a 5,155 majority to wrest the seat for PKR.

Birthday girl: Elizabeth (seated, centre) flanked by her father Wong Hong Hor and mother Har Choi Lin about to cut her 38th birthday cake yesterday. Also at the celebration are her (standing from right) sister Angela, aunt Winnie Ha and uncle Ha Hoi Man.
Of her birthday wish, Wong said, “I hope that we get a chance to show the people that we are capable of running the (Selangor) state government.”
Wong said the PKR team started work immediately after the announcement of election results and also that they had a lot of ideas of what had to be done.
“We discussed about the set-up and composition of the state government, things we had to do for the swearing-in process, and compiled the wish lists of the various NGOs, experts in local issues and residents’ associations on what they wanted for the state.
“We’ll also be leveling off and working out our plans with DAP and PAS,” said Wong.
Joining her in celebrating the double joy were Wong’s parents Wong Hong Hor and Har Choi Lin, sister Angela and her close relatives.
“We are really proud of Elizabeth. The win was a surprise and we are really happy for her. We’re glad that she got a fantastic birthday gift from the voters,” said 32-year-old sister, a management consultant.

hope you got the Mac you dreamt of..
Anyway, something just came to my mind..
besides the cyberspace..what other means of communication will PKR need to have to give an unbiased report of development in the govt to the selangorians- will you all be coming up with the very own state newspaper /newsletter or radio (?) channel ( that is being practised in other countries ?)
looking forward to any feedbacks..
